Heckles and Hurrahs

Story:Hurrah: I believe I'm still in shock from the blackout of CKX-TV. My husband and I watched the news and sports every weekday evening to receive the local unbiased update of the days news. I must comment on the professionalism of the news and sports anchors, Kim Kaschor and Tyler Crayston. They did not receive much warning of the closure and the end of their broadcasting careers in Brandon and yet they carried on even though they must have been hurting. All the best to the employees of CKX-TV for their hard work over the years.

Heckle: Inhumane practices in the pork industry have recently been documented the newspapers.  Sow crates are used in some cases so that the animals have no mobility, open sores and fused limbs.  Reports also say that pigs and horses transported in Canada often go without food, water or rest for 36 hours — and sometimes travel through climates so cold, the pigs freeze to the sides of the trucks.  I think more people need to be aware of what is going on and demand that changes be implemented.  No animal deserves to be treated this way.

Heckle:

Why can't responsible pet owners find a decent place to live in this city?  Why can't landlords charge a small fee to people who have pets?  I can't imagine living anywhere without my dog.  I hope someone can help this lady and her beautiful dog.

Hurrah:

I would like to commend a young man at a local gas station who not only checked my oil ( a light on my new car was on and I thought it was for oil)  but put air in all of my tires (which was actually what the light was for)  and all with a smile. When he said "no charge", I thought "This is a gas station I am coming back to"  What a great service - I only wish I could name the gas station!
