Some big names in the entertainment industry — three-time Juno-award-winning Susan Aglukark, Canadian Country Music Award winner Crystal Shawanda and best-selling author Calvin Helin — headline the 2009 Day of Inspiration at the Keystone Centre Nov. 9-10.
Hundreds of aboriginal youth will attend the event, which will also feature employment and education exhibits, a series on career workshops and a youth empowerment forum.
Organizer Terri McCartney said the object of the event is “to empower youth to live their best lives.”
The Day of Inspiration is suitable for students and adults and provides a chance to be inspired, research possible career paths, submit resumes, learn about internships, volunteering, international opportunities and personal, community and economic development.
Net proceeds go to the Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation.
Aglukark and Shawanda will combine their music with speaking presentations while Helin will discuss “finding success through self-reliance” in his discussion of economic development and entrepreneurship.
