As part of its centennial year celebrations, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is presenting a series of six Sunday concerts featuring acclaimed Brandon and Winnipeg performers.
The series starts Sunday, Jan. 31, at 3 p.m. with the a cappella vocal ensemble das Femmes. Formed in 1998, the group presents intimate and lively performances with eclectic repertoire and has become a favourite with Westman audiences.
Other concerts are:
Valentine’s Day, 3 p.m. — The five constituent choirs of the Brandon University Chorale under the direction of Elizabeth Grant;
Feb. 28, 3 p.m. — Elizabeth Grant returns to conduct the concert choir of First Presbyterian Church.
March 14, 3 p.m. — two of /Brandon’s finest musicians, Diane Nelson and Edna Knock, have become renowned for their collaboration in live performances and on several compact discs.
April 18, 3 p.m. — Antoher collaboration, this time between Winnipeg artists June Thompson, soprano, and Melody Koop, pianist. Thompson is a native of Brandon and Koop is one of Manitoba’s busiest accompanists. They will feature Broadway classics.
May 2, 3 p.m. — Neelin High School chamber choirs under the direction of Carolyn Gwyer.
St. Andrew’s church is at the corner of Russell Street and Louise Avenue. Series tickets are $50 each and individual concerts are $10 each with tickets available at the door.
